I'm Mike Greenwood and I've been using linux since 1997, so I've seen some kernel rebuilds in my time. Not to mention ISA bus sound-blaster-clones with IRQ conflicts. In fact I've been using linux so long that I'm actually proud that I pronounce it wrong. We didn't know any better when we first started saying "Lie Nucks".

As for distros, I'm now pretty much converted to ubuntu both at home and at work.

My home system is based on an AMD64 chip, so I try and run 64bit when I can. Unfortunately, some things just aren't quite there yet in 64bit land, so I have to run a 32bit chroot environment for the following:

  • Firefox Java plugin
  • Some games e.g. supertux

I'm a network administrator, biker and beer drinker, though, not all at the same time.
