I work at the University of Sheffield as a Systems Administrator on the Physics and General Purpose High Performance Computers running on Scientific Linux, a derivative of RedHat Enterprise Linux (which I generally detest, but it's work so I have to live with it!). I live in Honley.
In my previous job at the University I worked as a Network Administrator, maintaining the network infrastructure and working on new developments. I used to work at Sun Microsystems as a CPRE/CTE/PTS Lab Engineer.
I am a Member of the British Computing Society.
My current interests in Linux mainly lies in Networking, Security, High Performance Computing, Grid Computing (mainly because I have yet to work out exactly what "Grid" means) and Linux on Desktops. My interests outside of computing including Bass Guitar, Music and Photography.
My current preferred Desktop distribution is Ubuntu Linux, although in the past I have used Debian, RedHat and Slackware. I have completely forgotten everything about Slackware.
I've run the HudLUG web server since it changed to the wiki format around March 2005.
