Talk:Meetings
From HudLUG
The point of the 11 p.m. was to find on the web a concise (and if possible humourous) explanation of "closing time": that was the best I could find. I am dead against all day drinking and bars open on weekday nights (but this is arguably outside HUDLug's mission).
Also, HUDLug has had members below legal age for drinking, and I see no reason why a group of hackers should not be accessible to teenagers.
Also, though I was one of the offenders, there was a time when HUDLug was too closely associated with boozing, and to some extent, we are on the waggon.
Finally, the Main page and the pages on Meetings are the most significant 'public face' we have for new members, and as we are 'newby' friendly, I really think that the information on those pages should loudly and clearly welcome people who do not know us, and at the risk of being slightly boring (sse my first sentence) should be neutral in tone and wording.
The entire site, mind you, is a collaborative document, and I have had my say, so this is a general invitation to anyone to improve on it, and if you do, try to remove outdated or ugly material - a thankless operation I know, but something that every wiki needs. Good luck. --Ben 11:10, 7 March 2006 (GMT)
